(1) Temperature requirements
The temperature range suitable for storage of thermal sublimation inks is generally 15-30 ° C. If the temperature is too high, it may cause the performance of the ink to change, affecting the print quality. For example, the ink can become too thin, which can easily cause the printer to plug or the printed image is not clear enough. The temperature is too low, it may make the ink become viscous, poor fluidity, but also affect the normal use of the printer.
(2) Humidity control
Maintain proper humidity: The relative humidity of the storage environment is 40%-60%. The humidity is too high, which may cause the ink to absorb too much water, so that the concentration of the ink is reduced, and the color is lighter when printing. At the same time, it may also cause moisture damage to the ink cartridge label, affecting the identification and shelf life information of the ink. The humidity is too low and the ink may evaporate too quickly, causing the cartridge to dry out.
Prevent moisture and drying: In order to maintain the right humidity, you can place a dehumidifier or humidifier in the ink storage area to adjust the humidity. If you are in a humid environment, such as the basement or the rainy season in the south, pay attention to moisture-proof measures, such as using a sealed storage box and placing desiccant in the box.
(3) Illumination
Avoid direct light: Sublimation ink is more sensitive to light, especially ultraviolet (UV). A long period of strong light will cause the pigments and chemicals in the ink to decompose, changing the color and performance of the ink. Therefore, store ink in a dark place or use an opaque container to block light.
Choose the right packaging material: If the ink is originally packed in a clear cartridge, it is best to put it in a paper box or black plastic bag to reduce light exposure. If you refill the ink yourself, you should also use a light-tight storage bottle.
(4) Containers
Keep the original container sealed: If the ink is purchased in an original cartridge, make sure the cartridge is well sealed. Ink cartridges usually have a sealed label or lid, which should not be removed at will when not in use to prevent ink volatilization and contamination. If the ink is bottled, the bottle cap should be tightened in time after use, and check whether the bottle cap has good sealing performance, such as the bottle cap with a rubber seal ring to ensure that the seal ring is intact.
Avoid mixing different inks: Do not mix different brands, models, or batches of sublimation inks in one container. Because the chemical composition of different inks can react with each other, causing problems such as precipitation, clogging the nozzle or changing color. If you need to change the brand or model of ink, you should first thoroughly clean the old ink in the printer.
(5) Location
Keep it vertical: The ink cartridge or bottle is best placed vertically. Vertical placement prevents ink leakage because the structural design inside the cartridge is usually based on how it is used vertically. If the cartridge is tilted or inverted, ink may leak out of the vent or nozzle, which may also cause the nozzle to clog.
Keep away from children and pets: Ink contains chemicals, some of which can be harmful to humans or animals. Therefore, store ink out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion or contact allergies.
